Pokemon GO: look for pokemons in your neighbourhood

Pokemon GO is a mobile RPG that uses Augmented Reality. It was released on July 6, 2016, developed and published by Niantic.

With more than 1 billion downloads, Pokemon GO has won the titles of “Best Mobile Game” by The Game Developers Choice Awards and “Best App of the Year” in its year of release.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS devices, and because of its genre, it can only be playable on portable devices.

The concept of this popular game is based on discovering new and powerful pokemon from different real-world locations while using the phone’s GPS technology.

Pokemon Go Gameplay

The gameplay of Pokemon GO is all about using GPS and Google Maps technology of mobile phones. Developed according to the idea of the very famous animated series, Pokémon, the game’s focus is to collect and train the pokemon to use them in the battle against other players. Since it is not a traditional game but the game does not lay out a play-guide or tutorial for beginners, you have to go through the game by yourself to understand the game. Or, you can read some helpful articles or videos to have an idea about the game.

After signing up, at the start of the game, you’re given an option to customize your Pokemon trainer’s appearance. It is the character that will be placed on the map and represents your in-game character.

Now, the main thing is to catch the Pokemon. To start, you will also be given an option to choose from Squirtle, Bulbasaur, or Charmander (some common Pokemons).

Tip: Walk away from these Pokemons more than 3-4 times, and you will find Pikachu

The Grass is taken as a playground in the game where you can actually catch a Pokemon. Whenever a Pokemon is near you, your phone starts vibrating, and if you have audio on, you will hear the voice as well. To catch the Pokemon, you have to use Pokeball. Sometimes, some un-friendly Pokemons escape out of the Pokeball, and all you have to do is to flick two Pokeballs to recapture them. Sometimes, you break down and run low on Pokeballs. Then you will need to buy more from the shop. Pokecoins is the currency used in the game to buy Pokeballs and other items to help with your Pokemon and experience.

The Pokestops (moving blue cubes) are the points where you can collect useful Pokemon go stuff. There, you can find eggs, Pokeballs, potions, and other items to use in the game for better adventures. You can see all the collected items stored in your backpack.

The Gyms are the locations where your Pokemons can fight with other players’ Pokemon. These are pretty dominant locations in the game map and provides a competitive environment in the game. To compete with other players and fight in the gym, a player must have level five or above. The higher your level is, the higher there is a chance to find rare and powerful Pokemon.

After reaching level five in the game, you will have an option to choose a team. Teams are divided into Red, Blue, and Yellow categories. You can team-up with your friends playing nearby you to have assistance in capturing and battling Pokemons.

A notable feature of the game is that Pokemons with certain abilities are only likely to be found in the areas resembling their traits. For example, Blastoise is a hydra-based Pokemon and can only be found near lakes and rivers.

Is Pokemon GO still popular?

Pokemon GO is a very different type of game. The games are usually played while sitting on a couch or on a gaming setup. This game is unique because it depends on your mobilization and socialization with other players around the world. You actually have to leave your place, go out and explore the Pokemon and other important items.

After a few weeks of its release, the game becomes so popular that it is in the race to have more active users than Twitter.

The game developers are constantly updating the game, and even in this global pandemic situation, the game does not face any decline in its active users.

Is Pokemon GO worth it?

Pokemon GO does not require any kind of payment before. The game is completely free-to-play on all Android and iOS devices. However, there are tons of in-game purchases. Today, when everything is started to operate online even, you don’t have to go to the market to buy ordinary goods for your daily use. Everything can be delivered to your doorstep. In all these lethargic situations, Pokemon GO comes up with an opportunity to move yourself out and socialize with other players. The game is not mainly about winning or losing. It is about fun. And, if someone is having fun, then we can call that succeeding. Great concept with real-life friendly mechanics, the game really provides a pleasant and interesting experience for the players
