Genshin Impact – Version 1.6 Update
Published June 12, 2021The latest version update will introduce a wide range of new and exciting features including the limited-time “Midsummer Island Adventure” event, a new 5-star sword-wielding character, along with new rare weapons. Find out more here!
According to the official announcement by the miHoYo team, Genshin Impact will be receiving a version update on June 9th. The game will be down for about 5 hours while undergoing update maintenance. All players who have reached Adventure Rank 5 or higher will be compensated 60 Primogems for every hour the servers are down, for a minimum total of 300 Primogems. (So even if the update completes early, the minimum players will receive is 300).
For the duration of version 1.6, there will be an event called “Midsummer Island Adventure” which provides access to a limited-time area available for players to explore that will feature treasure chests, gather materials, and quests. Travel to these uncharted islands is unlocked by completely Klee’s Story “Quest Trifolium Chapter: Act 1 – True Treasure” and the Archon Quest “Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom”. This limited-time event will take place in ‘acts’, with Act 1 beginning immediately upon completion of the version 1.6 update, Act 2 starting on the 11th, Act 3 on the 14th, and finally Act 4 on the 17th. It’s important that you head there as soon as possible because this area (and everything in it) will no longer be available with the next version update.

A new 5-star character will be introduced, and apparently is the first character from the in-game region of Inazuma. Kazuha is described as a ‘wandering samurai’ and a ‘gentle and carefree soul’. Wielding a sword and using the Anemo element, he has several combat talents. The first is “Chihayaburu” which allows Kazuha to pull objects and opponents toward his current position and then explodes them outward from an area-of-effect impact that also launches him into the air. While in the air, Kazuha can combo a powerful plunging attack called “Midare Ranzan”. His other ability, “Kazuha Slash” also deals with Anemo-elemental area-of-effect damage both as a single attack and also creating a field that does damage over time.
Three new rare weapons will also be introduced, including ‘Freedom-Sworn’ a 5-star sword, ‘Mitternacts Waltz’, a 4-star bow, and ‘Dodoco Tales’, a 4-star catalyst. There is also a new gadget called the ‘Wind-Blesses Harpastum’, along with new furnishings and furnishing sets and new recipes for stir-fried shrimp, rice buns, and chicken tofu pudding. Descriptions for some existing items have been slightly adjusted for clarity. Additionally, two new outfits will be added, one for Barbara called “Summertime Sparkle” and a new outfit called “Sea Breeze Dandelion” for Jean.
A new feature is being added for the Serenitea Pot called “Companion Move-In”. This allows players to invite companions to move into their Serenitea Pot, which increases the bond between them and the Traveler, and will continuously award them with Companionship EXP. Companions that remain in the Serenitea Pot for an extended period of time will begin to treat it as their home and will prepare gifts for the player when they return.
This covers all the most important aspects of the latest version 1.6 update. Aside from this, some sound effects for certain character skills, environments, and items have been optimized or fixed, including adjustments made to the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean voice-over for certain characters, with particular focus made on fixing errors other imperfections. In addition, a Japanese voice-over was added for certain characters that previously did not yet have it. There were also a few changes made to the system and UI and basic bug fixes.
Featuring an open-world environment and active battle system, Genshin Impact is currently available on Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, and Windows. Plans have been made to release the game on Nintendo Switch, but there is no official announcement on when that will be.
