Fall Guys – Season 4 is coming!

Exchanging our current season’s Winter Wonderland theme for a more retro-futuristic ’80s feel, this upcoming 4th Season of Fall Guys is looking like it will be the most aesthetically pleasing season so far. It’s not clear yet exactly how much new content there will be. However, based on information teased by Mediatonic (screenshots of futuristic-looking courses and costumes) that the new content will be taking a page from newcomers like Cyberpunk 2077. Undoubtedly, developer is tipping the hat to old classics in the popular sci-fi genre like Bladerunner, with just a touch of Vaporwave and VHS-inspired filters. So far, what we know that players can safely expect new costumes, including a Shark, Disco Ball, Alien, ’80s Fitness Instructor, and a black-suited (MIB) Agent.

But it’s not just news of Season 4 that has fans of Fall Guys interested. Epic Games, the software and game developer behind Fortnite and Unreal Engine, purchased Mediatonic earlier this month. To placate any concerns that the game will be drastically changing or stop being supported at all, Mediatonic explained in a press release on March 2nd: “Your gameplay isn’t changing and neither is our mission to bring Fall Guys to as many players as possible. Each season we’ll continue to expand the game with new content features, rounds, and costumes.”

According to Mediatonic, “Joining forces with Epic will accelerate our plans to improve the game and bring Fall Guys to as many players as possible while continuing to support the community,” adding that both they and Epic Games have been “mutual fans for a while,” and “as we’ve gotten to know [them] better, it turns out we have a lot in common and share a lot of the same goals.”

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will remain purchasable on Steam and Playstation. The existing owners of these copies will continue to receive updates the same as those making new purchases and downloads. Mediatonic also shared that they have plans to bring Fall Guys to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

Mediatonic continued, “Fortnite and Rocket League already have tons of features we’d love to bring to Fall Guys —account systems, cross-play, squad vs. squad modes, etc.…” indicating that they have plans to add at least some of these features to Fall Guys! Of course, this won’t be ready for Season 4, but we might be seeing some of these features like cross-play sometime in the future.
While it hasn’t yet been announced exactly when Season 4 will begin, it’s safe to assume that since Season 3 kicked off in December, the anticipated next season will be coming sometime this month. On March 8th it was announced through Twitter by the Fall Guys team that Season 4 was “very close to launch,” and that a new trailer would be released on March 15th. We look forward to it!
