Black Desert Online – 2021 Roadmap
Published June 23, 2021New player classes, dungeons, minigames and events! Read here for more information about what players of Black Desert Online should expect for the next 6 months!
On June 19th, all Black Desert Online players, across all platforms, including PC, mobile, and console, were eligible to attend the second annual Heidel Ball, during which there were a significant amount of public announcements about what sort of changes, updates, and new features players can expect to be introduced during the second half of 2021. This mirrors the earlier release of the developer’s vision for 2021 during the Calphe:ON Ball in December of last year.
The most exciting new information to come to light is the upcoming introduction of a new player class called the Corsair. This seafaring swordswoman uses a swashbuckling fighting style, utilizing powerful and unpredictable flourishes to dominate her foes. It appears that many of her abilities will, of course, have a pirate’s flare and will likely include powers that are nautically inspired. The Corsair’s main weapon is called the ‘Serenaca’, which is a sword that can change to various lengths, and her secondary weapon is the ‘Mareca’, an enchanted orb that grants the Corsair powerful magical abilities, including transforming into a mermaid and summoning crashing waves and oceanic animals like whales. Interestingly, the Corsair will also have an innate passive ability allowing them to swim faster and stay underwater longer than any other player class. This will be the 23rd playable class to be featured in Black Desert Online and will be available on June 29th.
To celebrate the launch of a new class, players will be granted the option of creating a Season character, which level-up much faster, and offer other bonuses. This will give players the opportunity to start a new character and get them up to a higher level without grinding as much and replaying as much content.
Black Desert Online will also be receiving its first co-op dungeon, called Atoraxxion. The dungeon is separated into four parts. Vahmalkea is the first wing of the dungeon and was released on July 21st. The next three wings are called Sycrakea, Yolunakea, and Orzekea and will be released over the next few months. This dungeon will be filled with new epic monsters, challenging puzzles, and lots of storytelling.
However, mobile players should keep in mind that this new dungeon will only be available for PC and console players. But it’s not all bad news for Black Desert Mobile players. There will be at least four new classes released for the game’s mobile version, including the Corsair, Lahn, Mystic, and Solaris. New regions will also be added to South and East Valencia and will be updated to include new monsters, stories, events, and features. In addition, and the new multi-channel boss called Muraka, the King of Ogres, will be available for players to fight together and earn rewards based on the amount of damage dealt with it.
In the second week of August, players will be able to try out a new mini-game called Yarr, which is based on games like Poker and Yahtzee. Players can also look forward to a new monster zone, the Terror of the Deep Sea, being released a few weeks later on August 25th. This new game mode will offer a new challenge by limiting the player’s field of view.
Over the next couple of months, it’s possible that some things may be slightly different than what is currently described. It’s not unusual that the final version of a new feature ends up not being quite the same as what was predicted based on the announcement. Sometimes the developers will change their minds and have to make adjustments. Regardless, the next few months seem like they will be very exciting for Black Desert Online players. We will be sure to keep you updated with all the latest news!
